What is a membership card?

A membership card gives its holder a standing benefit, such as 10 % off every visit or a free extra, for as long as the membership is valid. It suits clubs, gyms and shops that sell a yearly membership or want to treat a closed group of customers.

How does a membership card work?

The holder shows the card at each visit and gets the perk at once: there is nothing to collect. Membership can be open to everyone who joins, or activated by staff, for example after the customer has paid a yearly fee. It can run without an end date or expire after a number of months and then be renewed.

Why does it matter for a shop?

  • A paid membership brings revenue up front and a strong reason to come back.
  • A free membership is a simple way to recognise a group (neighbours, students, staff of a nearby office).
  • Check-ins tell you how often members actually come.

How does Fidelia handle it?

Membership is a Pro card type. You set the discount or perk and a validity of none or 1 to 24 months, and choose whether members are active as soon as they join or once staff activate them. At the counter, staff scan the card and tap “Check in”; an expired card shows “Renew”. The Wallet card shows “Member”, the discount and the end date, and it updates itself when a membership ends or is renewed.
