What is a stamp card?

A stamp card (or punch card) gives the customer one stamp per visit or purchase and a reward when the card is full, for example a free coffee after 10 coffees. It is the simplest loyalty programme: easy to explain at the counter and easy to count.

How does a stamp card work?

The shop sets two things: how many stamps fill the card and what the reward is. Each visit earns a stamp; when the last slot is filled, the customer claims the reward and starts a new card. The cost to the shop is the reward’s cost price divided by the number of stamps, which you can work out with the reward cost calculator.

Why does it matter for a shop?

  • Customers understand it at once. No points to convert, no rules to read.
  • The goal is visible. Customers who see a card nearly full tend to come back to finish it.
  • Paper cards have weak spots: they get lost, forgotten or stamped twice with a borrowed stamp, and they tell you nothing about who your regulars are.

How does Fidelia handle it?

A Fidelia stamp card lives in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. You choose from 3 to 30 stamps and the reward; your staff scan the customer’s card with the Fidelia scanner on any phone to add a stamp. A minimum time between two stamps (5 minutes by default) prevents accidental double stamps, an owner or manager can correct a mistake with a logged reason, and every completed card is kept in the customer’s history. Stamp cards are included from the Essential plan; Pro adds other card types such as points, cashback, prepaid and membership.
