Stamps, points, cashback, prepaid or membership: pick the card that fits

A Fidelia card can be a stamp card, a points card, a cashback card, a prepaid card (a balance or a pack of items) or a membership card. The stamp card is included in Essential; the other types come with Pro.

Which card types can you create?

When you create a card, Fidelia first asks What kind of card do you want to create? and shows an example of each type. Every type lives in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, is scanned with the same scanner, and a mistake is corrected in the dashboard like a stamp: Adjust stamps on stamp cards, Correct points, Correct balance, Correct items left or Change membership on the others.

Type How customers earn At the counter Plan
Stamp card One stamp per visit, reward after 3–30 stamps Scan = one stamp Essential
Points 1 point per amount you choose, 1 to 6 rewards at different point levels Type the amount spent; tap a reward to redeem Pro
Cashback 1 to 30 % of each purchase credited to a balance Type the amount; Pay with balance Pro
Prepaid balance The customer tops up money, with an optional bonus of 0 to 50 % Top up and Charge Pro
Prepaid pack The customer buys a pack of 3 to 30 items up front (“10 coffees”) Activate once paid, then Use 1 × per item Pro
Membership A discount and/or a perk for members, valid for no limit or 1 to 24 months Check in; Renew when it has expired Pro

Amounts are typed on a till-style keypad (1-2-5-0 gives 12.50) and a balance can never go below zero. Fidelia doesn’t take payments: customers still pay with Swish, card or cash, through your own Zettle or terminal, and your team then types the amount in the scanner.

How do you choose?

  • Stamp card: when every visit is worth about the same, like a coffee and a cinnamon bun, a sandwich or a car wash. Easiest to explain at the counter.
  • Points: when baskets vary a lot (a delicatessen, a boutique) and you want big spenders to earn faster, with several rewards to aim for.
  • Cashback: when you’d rather give money back than a product. Customers see their balance in kronor on the card.
  • Prepaid balance: when regulars like to pay in advance, for example a lunch account.
  • Prepaid pack: when you sell bundles, like 10 coffees or 5 car washes paid up front. The card shows one stamp per item left.
  • Membership: when you sell a yearly club, a subscription or a members’ discount. Staff can activate it after payment, or everyone who joins can be a member at once.

How does it work for customers?

Customers join exactly as with a stamp card: they scan your QR code, type their first name and e-mail address, and add the card to their wallet. The card then shows what matters for its type: points and the next reward, a balance, the items left in a pack, or “Member · 10 % off” with an end date. It updates within seconds after each scan.

When a points purchase makes a reward available, the customer gets a notification.

How does it work at the counter?

The scanner opens the customer’s card and shows only the actions that fit its type. For points and cashback, your team types the amount of the purchase; for a pack, they tap Use 1 × (or more); for a membership, Check in. Every action is logged with who did it. A mistake is corrected by an owner or manager in the dashboard, with a logged reason.

Managers can adjust a balance, a points total or a membership from the customer’s page, with a reason that is kept in the history.

What are the rules to know?

  • One type per card. With Pro you can run several cards side by side, for example a stamp card and a membership.
  • The type locks once customers hold the card.
  • Reward names, perks and level names are typed once in your main language and can be translated in the designer.
  • If billing lapses, earning and check-ins stop after the grace period, but redeeming, paying with a balance and top-ups keep working: customers never lose what they paid for.

Examples by trade

Example set-ups, not customer stories:

  • Café: a stamp card for coffee, plus a prepaid pack “10 coffees” sold at the counter.
  • Gym or studio: a membership card valid 12 months, with check-ins at the door.
  • Car wash: a prepaid pack of 5 washes, or 5 % cashback on every wash.

Questions

Can I change the type of a card later?

Yes, until customers hold it. Once the first customer has the card, its type is locked so nobody's balance changes meaning. You can always create a new card of another type next to it with Pro.

Can I try a Pro card type before paying for Pro?

Yes. You can pick, set up and preview any card type on any plan. Only publishing a Pro type asks for Pro, which has a 14-day free trial.

What happens to my points or cashback card if I go back to Essential?

Live cards keep working and every customer keeps their balance. You just can't publish a new Pro-type card.

Is a prepaid card allowed for a small shop?

With a prepaid card you hold your customers' money, which can fall under gift-card or e-money rules. Fidelia shows a note about it in the designer; check with your accountant before you launch one.
