This page describes what the product does. It is not legal advice: the shop remains responsible for how it uses its customers’ details.
What does a customer agree to when joining?
Joining takes two steps on a phone:
- Your details: first name and e-mail. The notice under the button says the shop stores the first name, e-mail and stamps to run the card. The privacy policy is linked from the form.
- Notifications: one optional tick box, “Yes, notify me on my phone when the shop has an offer or a surprise for me”, then the Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet button.
Without the box ticked, the customer still gets a working card and notifications about their own card, such as a reward being ready. They are not included in your messages or e-mails.
Who receives my messages and e-mails?
Both Messages and Emails go only to customers who ticked the news box, and for e-mails also have an address on file. Customers you deleted or who unsubscribed are left out. The count shown before sending tells you the audience. See send an e-mail and send a push message.
How does a customer unsubscribe from e-mails?
- They open any e-mail from the shop and click Unsubscribe at the bottom. Many mail apps also show their own unsubscribe button, which works in one click.
- The page asks “Stop these e-mails?”. They press Unsubscribe. It asks first because mail scanners sometimes open links by themselves.
- They see “You’re unsubscribed”, and “Your loyalty card keeps working as before.”
If the link says “Link not recognised”, it is incomplete or too old. They should use the link in the latest e-mail they received.
What do I see as the shop?
In Customers, a customer who unsubscribed shows a note with the date, and you can no longer e-mail them. The setting applies to that shop only.
Can the customer’s data be removed?
Yes. Owners and managers can delete a customer: see delete a customer. Customers can read what is stored in the notice for cardholders.
