A grooming salon runs on a calendar: the same dog, the same owner, every few weeks. The risk is not that clients leave on a bad day, it is that they drift. The next appointment slides from six weeks to ten, then they try the new place around the corner. A loyalty card gives the owner a small reason to book the next slot before leaving, and a gentle reminder helps when they forget.
What to reward, and after how many stamps?
Appointments are worth a lot more than a coffee, so rewards can be small extras instead of free services.
- 4Free nail clip or ear cleaningQuick, cheap, and the pet-owner notices it.
- 6A free paw or coat treatment add-onA visible upgrade that costs a few minutes and a product.
- 8Free bath for a small petA fuller reward for the loyal regular.
- 5A bag of treats or a bandanaLow cost, and the dog wears it out of the door.
Example calculation: a groom sells for €50 and a free nail clip is worth €8 in time and no more than a few euros in cost. Four paid appointments bring in €200, so the reward is 4 % of what the owner spent, or less if you count only cost. These are example figures. With visits every few weeks, a card of 4 to 6 stamps feels reachable within a season. A long card of 10 would take over a year for many pets.
Cards can have between 3 and 30 stamps. Changing the number affects only new cards, so nobody halfway through loses progress. You can also give a welcome stamp when an owner joins.
How does stamping work at the appointment?
Scan at payment, when the owner collects the pet. The person at the desk scans the pass, and the screen shows “+1” and a first name with progress, for example “Lien · 3/5”. The pass on the phone updates within seconds.
- Several groomers: each person logs in with a PIN, and every stamp records who scanned it.
- One stamp per appointment: the 5-minute cooldown stops accidental double scans. Decide whether you count per appointment or per animal.
- Mistakes: the owner or a manager corrects the card in the dashboard with Adjust stamps; the reason and who made the change are logged.
- Reward ready: the pass shows it, and the owner gets a lock-screen notification. Staff tap the claim button and add the free extra to the next groom.
Which card type fits a groomer?
The stamp card (Essential) is the natural fit: one stamp per appointment. On Pro you can add a pack card for owners who prepay a set of grooms (check prepaid rules with your accountant) and VIP levels by number of visits, for example for owners who have been coming for a year.
Seasonal and occasion ideas
- Spring: shedding season. A reminder that a coat treatment is worth booking.
- Summer holidays: pets before boarding or a trip.
- Autumn: muddy walks and wet coats.
- December: gift ideas such as a pack card sold as a present, and early booking before the busy weeks.
- Pet birthdays: a small treat, if you collect the date in conversation.
What to send by push or e-mail
Push messages (Pro) show on the lock screen and only reach owners who opted in to news. Keep them to one or two a month. Examples:
- Example · title: “Time for a refresh?” · message: “Book the next groom this week and get a free paw treatment on your card.”
- Example · title: “Shedding season” · message: “Slots for coat care are open. Show your card at the desk.”
- Example · title: “One groom to go” · message: “You are one stamp from a free bath.”
E-mail idea: a short note to customers not seen in 30 days, sent from your salon’s own address, with a link to your booking page. Replies land in an inbox in your dashboard.
Common objections
“My clients book by phone, not online.” The card is separate from booking. Owners join by scanning the QR stand at the desk while they wait.
“I only see each client every few weeks.” That is why the card is short and why reminders matter. Pro lets you reach owners between appointments.
“Owners won’t want another app.” They don’t have to. The card goes into Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or opens as a web card if they have neither.
“Some animals are nervous, the desk is calm.” A scan is one quiet move at payment, no screens for the animal to notice.
What does it cost?
Essential costs €29 a month excl. VAT: one location, one stamp card, unlimited customers and scans, the scanner for your team and your first QR stand. Pro, at €59 a month, adds pack cards, push messages, e-mails and VIP levels, with a 14-day free trial.
